hc semitek held the groundbreaking ceremony for its project on may 31, 2016, a bright sunny day after several days of nonstop rain in yiwu. tao chenghua, chairman of jinhua committee of cppcc; sheng qiuping, a member of standing committee of the cpc jinhua municipal committee and secretary of yiwu municipal party committee; lin yi, vice mayor of jinhua city and mayor of yiwu; chen xiuxian, director of the standing committee of yiwu municipal people’s congress; song yinghao, chairman of yiwu committee of cppcc; ji jinfu, director of the management committee of yiwu commerce and trade service gathering area; wang xinfeng, deputy mayor of yiwu, and other leaders attended and laid the foundation stone for the project.
the project of hc semitek limited, zhejiang covers a total land area of 233,000 square meters; the first-phase project covers an area of 93,000 square meters, with a building area of 290,000 square meters. this project is chiefly geared to the r&d of led epitaxial wafers and chips, and the cutting, grinding, polishing, patterned substrate, and coating of sapphire ingots. the project is planned to be built in two phases in a period of 5 years. when the project reaches full capacity in 2021, it will achieve an annual output of 3 million led (equivalent to 2-inch) epitaxial chips and 13 million (equivalent to 2-inch) sapphire materials.
the project helps the sustained growth of fiscal revenue in yiwu and can generate 6,000 jobs. the project fills a gap in the upstream segment of zhejiang’s led industry chain. it is of great significance for the zone to develop the led industry chain and build a world-renowned led industry base. it also plays an important role in leading and guiding the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector in yiwu and even zhejiang as a whole.
